Biography
Abey Eapen, M.D., M.B.B.S., Ph.D., DRCOG, FCRI, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in treating patients undergoing assisted conception treatment (IUI, IVF, ICSI, etc.) and those diagnosed with recurrent pregnancy loss and recurrent implantation failure.
Dr. Eapen earned his medical degree at the University of Calicut in India, and then embarked on his career in the United Kingdom. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and then received specialized training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He holds a Ph.D. in clinical reproductive medicine (obstetrics and gynecology) from the University of Birmingham, where he researched the use of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF) in women with recurrent miscarriages.
Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022, Dr. Eapen was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. In 2021, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American Society of Reproductive Immunology after completing his clinical fellowship in reproductive immunology.
His research interests include recurrent pregnancy loss, recurrent implantation failure, reproductive immunology, assisted reproductive technology treatments and outcomes, infertility due to a male factor, and the effect of female body mass index on assisted reproductive technology treatment outcomes.
The author of numerous academic articles, Dr. Eapen presents his work widely and also serves as an Honorary Research Fellow in reproductive medicine at the U.K.-based Tommy’s National Centre for Miscarriage Research.
Dr. Eapen is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, British Fertility Society, American Society for Reproductive Immunology, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. He serves as a peer reviewer for multiple medical journals.
