Biography

Alexandra Idrovo, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric kidney disease and associated disorders.

Dr. Idrovo earned her medical degree at the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador. She completed a residency in pediatrics at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago and received advanced training in pediatric nephrology through a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital.

Board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric nephrology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.

Dr. Idrovo’s clinical interests include acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, kidney replacement therapy and its effects on pediatric patients, and long-term outcomes for cardiorenal syndrome type 4. She treats children across a variety of settings, including acute critical care, chronic care visits, and transplantation.

She is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, the American Society of Nephrology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has authored peer-reviewed publications as a principal investigator and has delivered lectures at national and international conferences. In 2021, Dr. Idrovo was named a “Top Doc” by Coastal Virginia Magazine.
