Biography

Aparna Patra, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in neonatal-perinatal medicine, focusing on the care of extremely premature babies and respiratory management in severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia of prematurity.

Dr. Patra earned her medical degree at the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College in India. She completed a residency in pediatrics at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania, and received advanced training in neonatal-perinatal medicine through a fellowship at Brown University/Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021. Previously, she was a faculty member at UK HealthCare’s Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Patra is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of its Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Women in Neonatology.

She has delivered scores of lectures and presentations and published numerous academic articles.
