Biography
Arul Lingappan, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in pediatric anesthesiology.
Dr. Lingappan earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a residency in pediatrics at UCLA Medical Center and a residency in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He received advanced training through a patient safety and quality fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality and a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). After completing the latter, Dr. Lingappan stayed on as faculty at the CHOP, serving as Director of Pediatric Transplant Anesthesia.
Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.
Dr. Lingappan is a member of several professional associations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, the Society for Technology in Anesthesia, and the International Liver Transplantation Society.
His clinical interests include pediatric transplant anesthesia, pediatric regional anesthesia, and biomedical informatics. He is the author of numerous academic articles, book chapters, lectures, and presentations.
