Biography

Briana Witherspoon, D.N.P., APRN, ACNP-BC, currently serves as the Assistant Director of Advanced Practice for the O'Donnell Brain Institute and is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner in the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Witherspoon completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Tyler and then earned both a Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Vanderbilt University. She was Vanderbilt's first graduate from the DNP Critical Care Fellowship program and subsequently served as Director of the program. Dr. Witherspoon has served in various advanced practice leadership positions throughout her career, while maintaining a clinical practice in neurology. She is the executive sponsor of the APP Mentorship Program and Chair of the Stroke Continuum of Care Committee as well as a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
