Cassandra Newsom, Psy.D.
Cassandra R. Newsom, Psy.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Specializing in treating autism spectrum disorders, she serves as a psychologist in the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center.
Dr. Newsom earned her doctoral degree at the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology. She completed her internship in neuropsychology at Virginia Beach City Public Schools, where she also received advanced training through a two-year fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology and low-incidence disorders.
Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017, Dr. Newsom served as a neuropsychologist and as the Director of psychology education at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD).
She is licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Newsom conducts and publishes research on autism spectrum disorders. She also delivers presentations, lectures, and educational materials to medical professionals, educators, and families of people with autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Newsom is a member of the International Society for Autism Research.
