Biography

David Hoffman, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in hospital medicine.

Dr. Hoffman earned his medical degree at the UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics. He was born and raised in Dallas, and earned his bachelor’s degree in biomedical science at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Board certified in internal medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2011. Prior to joining UT Southwestern, Dr. Hoffman served as a hospitalist at UTHealth Houston, where he founded the Hospitalist Group for Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.

His professional interests include clinician recruitment and retention, as well as clinical operations. He serves as Director of the Hospitalist Observation Unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital and as Chair of the Recruitment and Retention Committee for the Division of Hospital Medicine.

Dr. Hoffman is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and the American College of Physicians.

Personal Note

When he’s not working, Dr. Hoffman enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, beekeeping, tending to his chickens and koi, woodworking, and seeing live music around town.
