Biography

David Schindel, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in pediatric surgery.

Dr. Schindel earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. He completed a residency in general surgery at Indiana University Medical Center and then received advanced training in pediatric surgery through a fellowship at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.

Certified by the American Board of General Surgery and the American Board of Pediatric Surgery, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2004.

Dr. Schindel’s clinical and research interests include congenital surgery in newborns, pediatric colorectal surgery, and fetal diagnosis and interventions. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and book chapters and is a frequent invited lecturer.

He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Association.
