Biography

Farhan Lalani, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in hospital medicine, focusing on point-of-care ultrasound and diagnostic reasoning.

Dr. Lalani earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, by the American Society of Hypertension in hypertension, and by the American College of Chest Physicians in critical care ultrasound, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.

Dr. Lalani has delivered numerous lectures and presentations and published several academic articles. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for POCUS Journal’s website.

Prior to joining UT Southwestern, Dr. Lalani served as Director of Quality Assurance for the Clinical Ultrasonography Program in the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Division of Hospital Medicine. In 2019, he received the UCSF School of Medicine’s Excellence in Teaching Award for Clinical Faculty.

In addition to his fluency in English, Dr. Lalani has advanced proficiency in Urdu and Spanish.

Personal Note

Dr. Lalani’s interests outside of medicine include guitar, surfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, social justice, meditation and mindfulness, Stoic philosophy, and secular Buddhism.
