Biography

Jennifer Elia, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in critical care medicine. 

Dr. Elia earned her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She completed a residency in anesthesiology at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center and received advanced training in anesthesia critical care medicine through a fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 

Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2016. 

Dr. Elia’s research and clinical interests include sleep quality and delirium prevention in the Intensive Care Unit and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS). She is also involved in medical education and is a certified instructor at the UT Southwestern Simulation Center. In addition, she serves as a clinical mentor to medical students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Elia is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society for Education in Anesthesia, the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Dallas County Anesthesia Society.
