Biography

Kala Bailey, M.D., joined the UT Southwestern Medical Center faculty in 2014. She currently serves as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs for the Department of Psychiatry. She is also a member of the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute clinical leadership committee.

In 2021, Dr. Bailey received UT Southwestern’s Leaders in Clinical Excellence Program Development Award for her team’s commitment to patient care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically the extensive coordination and collaboration between critical care, psychiatry, and palliative care.

Dr. Bailey earned her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School and completed a residency in psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine, where she was Chief Resident in her final year of training and achieved the outstanding graduating resident award. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Her clinical expertise is in interventional psychiatry, utilizing neurostimulation and other innovative methods to treat medication-refractory mental disorders.
