Biography

Kartavya Sharma, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in neurocritical care, including treating intracranial hemorrhages, stroke, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.

After earning his medical degree at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, Dr. Sharma completed a residency in neurology at UT Southwestern. He gained advanced training in neurocritical care through a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Sharma is certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and in neurocritical care by the United Council of Neurological Subspecialties. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.

A prolific author and presenter, Dr. Sharma’s research focuses on improving clinicians’ ability to predict functional outcome after severe brain injury. His recent publications include a first-authored paper in Neurology.

Dr. Sharma serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Neuroimaging and as an ad hoc reviewer for Neurocritical Care, which named him one of its top reviewers in 2020.
