Biography
Lisa-Ann Wuermser, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in spinal cord injury and mineral metabolism.
Dr. Wuermser earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, where she also completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She gained advanced training in mineral metabolism through a fellowship at UT Southwestern.
Board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and in spinal cord injury medicine, she initially joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1997, serving as Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for Parkland Health from 2000 to 2003. She returned to UT Southwestern in 2021 and now serves as a senior spinal cord injury consultant for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Wuermser is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Medical Association, the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, the American Spinal Injury Association, the International Society for Clinical Densitometry, the Minnesota Medical Association, the Spinal Cord Outcomes Partnership Endeavor, and the United Spinal Association.
She has delivered scores of presentations, contributed to the book Spinal Cord Medicine, and published numerous academic articles related to her areas of expertise.
