Biography

Maria Alejandra Bacalao, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in rheumatology.

Dr. Bacalao earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago and then returned to UT Southwestern for fellowship training in rheumatology.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.

Dr. Bacalao’s research interests include lupus and other rheumatologic autoimmune diseases.
