Biography
Marshay James, D.N.P., MSNEd, APRN, CPNP-AC, CPEN, CNE, NE-BC, is a nurse practitioner in the Department of Pediatrics–Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is also a certified nurse educator and nurse executive with extensive experience in pediatric acute and critical care.
Dr. James earned her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Tennessee, a master of science in nursing education from the University of Memphis, a pediatric nurse practitioner–acute care post-master certificate, and a doctor of nursing practice in systems-based leadership from Vanderbilt University, as well as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner post-master certificate from Purdue Global University.
She has held clinical leadership roles at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital, where she managed advanced practice providers and led quality improvement initiatives, including delirium screening implementation and early mobility programs in pediatric critical care.
An experienced educator, she has served as faculty at Vanderbilt University, the University of Memphis, and the University of Tennessee, teaching and mentoring future nurse practitioners and nursing students. Her scholarly contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national and international presentations focused on pediatric critical care, onco-critical care, early mobility, sedation, delirium management, improvement science, and prolonged mechanical ventilation.
