Biography

Michael Landay, M.D., is a Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Cardiothoracic Imaging Division. His clinical interests include lung cancer.

Dr. Landay holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital prior to being drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. While serving at the 95th Evacuation Hospital in Danang, he decided to pursue radiology as a specialty, thanks to the positive influence of Dr. Harvey Goldstein. He thus performed another residency, this time in diagnostic radiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and received advanced training in ultrasound through a fellowship program at UT Southwestern.

From 2001 to 2013, Dr. Landay held the Jack Reynolds, M.D. Chair in Radiology, an endowed faculty position created by former radiology residents and medical students to honor Dr. Reynolds, who also had a positive influence on Dr. Landay.

Dr. Landay focuses his research on chest radiology and computed tomography (CT). His work has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed articles and other publications, including a book of which he is the sole author, Interpretation of the Chest Roentgenogram.

Dr. Landay is a member of multiple national and international professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Society of Thoracic Radiology.
