Biography

Dr. Michelle Gill received her M.D. and Ph.D. in Cellular Biology & Anatomy from the Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. She completed her internship, residency and chief residency in Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Sciences in Little Rock, AR and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Gill completed her Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the UT Southwestern Medical Center and thereafter joined the faculty of UT Southwestern Medical Center in the Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Gill’s current research interests center around two of the most common etiologies of respiratory disease in children: allergic asthma and viral respiratory infections. The role of dendritic cells and monocytes in these clinically relevant disease processes is poorly understood. Investigations in Dr. Gill’s laboratory are designed to define mechanisms underlying the potential contribution of these immune cells to the pathogenesis of respiratory diseases in children.

Dr. Gill serves on many institutional and national committees including the Allergenic Products Advisory Committee for the Food and Drug Administration and a Council Member representing Infectious Diseases for the Society of Pediatric Research.

Dr. Gill is the President-elect (2017) for the Society of Pediatric Research. She was included in D Magazine's Best Doctors list for 2018.
