Biography

Simona Campa, DNP, ACNP-BC, holds certification as a cardiology nurse practitioner within the Cardiology Division at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2023, concentrating on cardiovascular prevention and cardiometabolic syndrome. With over ten years of experience in cardiology, Dr. Campa demonstrates proficiency in preventive cardiology, general cardiology, and weight management for individuals vulnerable to cardiovascular disease (CVD). She also has a keen interest in women's cardiac health, particularly focusing on pregnant women at risk of adverse cardiac pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Campa leverages her extensive clinical expertise in her leadership capacity, guiding teams, educating peers in healthcare, and providing mentorship in clinical and research environments. Currently, she fulfills the role of Cardiovascular Team Liaison for the American College of Cardiology (ACC) from 2021 to 2024. In her outpatient roles at UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Clinic Center in Park Cities, Dr. Campa collaborates closely with cardiologists, advocating passionately for the advanced practice provider (APP) community and spearheading initiatives for quality improvement in outpatient care, all with the goal of enhancing patient outcomes. Prior to her position at UT Southwestern, Dr. Campa contributed to the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
