Biography

Vincent Joseph Wang, M.D., M.H.A., is a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in pediatric emergency medicine and holds the Sarah M. and Charles E. Seay Distinguished Chair in Pediatric Medicine.

Dr. Wang earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and received advanced training in pediatric emergency medicine through a fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. He also holds a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Southern California.

Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2018. He serves as Chief of the UTSW Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and as Director of Emergency Services at Children’s Health.

Dr. Wang’s clinical and research interests include asthma, bronchiolitis, and infectious diseases. The author of numerous scholarly articles, book chapters, abstracts, reviews, and presentations, he is the lead editor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Question Review Book (editions 2009, 2013, and 2017); a co-editor of Fleisher and Ludwig’s 5-Minute Pediatric Emergency Medicine Consult, 1st edition (2012) and co-editor-in-chief of the 2nd edition (2020); and co-editor of the Tintinalli Emergency Medicine Manual, 8th edition (2017). Dr. Wang also serves on the editorial board of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Practice and as an abstract reviewer for both the Pediatric Academic Societies national meetings and the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Emergency Medicine national meetings.

He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society for Pediatric Research.
