Whether your child has a stomachache, something more persistent like intestinal bowel disorder (IBD), or a liver problem, our team of gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition specialists at UT Southwestern Frisco will work quickly to diagnose the condition and provide compassionate, effective care.
We offer comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents with gastrointestinal (GI), pancreatic, and liver (hepatic) disorders, as well as nutritional needs.
If needed, our minimally invasive tests, such as endoscopy or colonoscopy, can help zero in on problems in the safest possible way, and our team will resolve your child’s digestive disorders as soon as possible.
Pediatric Clinical Nutrition
Our registered and licensed dietitians assess patients' nutritional needs based on diagnoses, laboratory values, physical assessment, and dietary history. You may be asked to keep food records prior to your child’s initial appointment, and these records may be analyzed using a computerized nutrient analysis program to determine dietary inadequacies or excesses. You will need to have a referral for your child’s nutrition assessment; however, our pediatric specialists are happy to see you for specific needs and work hand in hand with our dietitians to provide a comprehensive care plan for your child.
Preparing for Your Appointment
To make the most of your time with the doctor, prepare a list of questions ahead of time and bring it to your appointment.
On the day of the appointment, please arrive 20 minutes early to allow time for parking and registration. We do our best to see patients at or before their scheduled appointment time.
Please bring the following items:
- Current insurance card
- Method of payment
- Current medications
- Completed paperwork, if you received forms before the visit
To facilitate ongoing communication, we recommend patients sign up with MyChart, which allows patients to communicate directly with doctors, request prescription refills, update contact information, view test results, and request clinic appointments. Sign in to or sign up for MyChart.
Canceling an Appointment
If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify the center at least 48 hours in advance so we can accommodate other patients waiting to schedule an appointment.
Prescriptions and Refills
It is very important that children do not run out of their medications. Be sure that they have sufficient refills to last until their next appointment with their provider. We are happy to provide you with a written prescription upon request.
If you run out of refills, please call your pharmacy and your pharmacist will fax a refill request to us. Please allow us 24 to 48 hours to process refill requests.
