Biography

Ahmad Elsharydah, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in all types of anesthesia and acute and chronic pain management, especially multimodal and interventional pain therapies such as nerve blocks and spine injections. 

Dr. Elsharydah earned his medical degree at the University of Damascus Faculty of Medicine. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at Indiana University in Indianapolis and received advanced training through a pain medicine fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree with a health care management concentration from the University of Texas at Dallas. 

Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Anesthesiology-Pain Medicine, Dr. Elsharydah joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2008. 

His research interests include perioperative outcomes, perioperative health care analytics, predictive modeling, and postoperative pain management. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, case reports, letters, abstracts, and book chapters. Dr. Elsharydah is an invited reviewer for several medical journals and frequently makes presentations at national and international anesthesia and pain medicine conferences.

Dr. Elsharydah is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the International Anesthesia Research Society, American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, and the ASA Grassroots Network.
