Biography

Alycia Wanat-Hawthorne, M.D., is an Associate Professor and Associate Program Director in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in cardiac anesthesia. 

Dr. Wanat-Hawthorne earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern, where she also completed a residency in anesthesiology and pain management and a fellowship in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology. 

Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2013. 

Dr. Wanat-Hawthorne is Chair of the clinical competency committee for the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management’s Residency Program. In 2018, she earned the department’s Faculty of the Year Award.

She has delivered numerous presentations and published several academic articles related to cardiothoracic anesthesia, and she is a member of the education subcommittee on resident training for the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.
