Biography

Alyssa Bean, M.S., RDN, LD, is a Registered Dietitian at UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Weight Wellness Program at the Internal Medicine Subspecialties Clinic location. She received both her undergraduate degree in Human Food and Nutrition and her Master of Science in Nutrition with an emphasis in Community Nutrition from the University of Alabama. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at SMU Cox School of Business.

Her interest in nutrition was sparked early after watching a documentary highlighting "green prescriptions" and the transformative power of food as medicine. This experience inspired her to explore the profound impact nutrition can have not only on physical health, but also on communities and overall quality of life. Ms. Bean is passionate about improving accessibility to credible nutrition information and addressing the psychosocial aspects of nutrition. She believes that understanding the relationship between food, culture, environment, and mental well-being is essential to creating sustainable lifestyle change.

Her professional background includes clinical nutrition in both general inpatient care and intensive care unit settings, where she developed a strong foundation in medical nutrition therapy. She later transitioned into bariatric dietetics, where she worked closely with patients navigating complex lifestyle and behavioral changes before and after surgery.

Ms. Bean is committed to empowering patients through open, judgment-free dialogue about nutrition and fostering healthy relationships with food, mind, and body. She values collaborative, patient-centered care and strives to support individuals in building sustainable habits that promote long-term health and well-being.
