Biography

Amy Woods, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. 

Dr. Woods earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical, where she also completed a residency in anesthesiology and pain management. 

Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2009. 

Dr. Woods is Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management and is Medical Director for Anesthesiology Perioperative Services at Parkland Memorial Hospital. She serves on several hospital and university committees and is a member of the governing council for the Anesthesia History Association. She also volunteers as a member of the EMS training program advisory board for the Dallas County Community College District at Brookhaven College. 

She is a founding member of the Dallas Women in Anesthesiology Social Group and a member of several additional professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Society for Education in Anesthesia. 

Dr. Woods has delivered a number of presentations and published several academic articles.

In 2014, she received the Circle of Life Award from the Department of Anesthesia at Parkland Hospital and the James D. Griffin, M.D., Medical Student Teaching Award from the UTSW Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management.
