Biography

Anthony Tannous, M.D., FACS, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He serves as an Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency and specializes in trauma, surgical critical care, and acute care surgery.

Dr. Tannous earned his medical degree at the American University of Beirut Medical School. He completed his residency in general surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Texas Health Science Center. He received advanced training in surgical critical care through a fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery in both general surgery and surgical critical care, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty as a leader in surgical education and clinical operations. He also serves as the President of the American University of Beirut Surgical Alumni Association of North America (AUB SAANA).

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Medical Society, Association of Out Surgeons and Allies and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST).

Dr. Tannous has a distinguished professional background marked by a commitment to resident mentorship, rigorous clinical training, and excellence in high-volume trauma systems.
