Biography

Babatunde Ogunnaike, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is a general anesthesiologist. 

Dr. Ogunnaike earned his medical degree at the University of Ilorin in Nigeria. He completed a residency in anesthesia at UT Southwestern, followed by clinical fellowships in anesthesiology and intensive care at Hannover Medical School in Germany and the University of Melbourne’s Austin Hospital in Australia. 

Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Ogunnaike joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1999. 

Dr. Ogunnaike’s research interests include obesity and bariatric anesthesia, the history of anesthesia, and anesthesia medications. He is the author of numerous abstracts, original articles, and book chapters, and he regularly delivers invited lectures.

He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Dallas County Anesthesiology Society, the Dallas County Medical Society, the International Anesthesia Research Society, the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, the Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.
