Biography

Brian Miller, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in emergency medicine and emergency medical services (EMS). 

Dr. Miller earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston (now known as the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth) and completed residency training in emergency medicine at Indiana University. He received advanced training in EMS through a fellowship at UT Southwestern. 

Board certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Miller joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017. He is eligible for board certification in EMS in the fall of 2019. 

Currently, Dr. Miller serves as the Deputy Medical Director for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department and the UTSW/Parkland BioTel EMS System, which provides unified medical direction for 11 North Texas city EMS agencies. He is also the interim Associate Medical Director for the Emergency Physicians Advisory Board, which provides medical direction and oversight to the MedStar Mobile Healthcare System in Fort Worth. 

Dr. Miller’s research interests include prehospital emergency care and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

He is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the National Association of EMS Physicians, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.
