Biography

Catherine Fitzsimmons, M.S.N., APRN, FNP-C, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner in the Heart and Lung Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in heart failure and mechanical circulatory assist devices. 

Ms. Fitzsimmons received her undergraduate degree from Washington State University and then earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Gonzaga University. She is currently a doctorate student at the University of Texas, Arlington. She has worked in heart failure/transplant since 2000.

She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Texas Nurse Practitioners, and The International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation. 

Ms. Fitzsimmons was acknowledged as one of the Dallas/Fort Worth Great 100 nurses in 2003, and was a finalist for the DFW Hospital Association Employee of the Year in 2008.
