Biography

Dawood Nasir, M.D., is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in regional and general anesthesia. 

Dr. Nasir earned his medical degree at the Quaid-e-Azam Medical College in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He received advanced training in anesthesiology through a fellowship at Bahawal Victoria Hospital, also in Bahawalpur. Later, he completed an internship in pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical Center and a residency in anesthesiology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. 

Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2005. 

In addition to authoring a handbook on regional anesthesia, Dr. Nasir performed a landmark study that compared the duration of local anesthetic drugs, which was published in the journal Current Clinical Pharmacology (2017, 12(2):92-98).

He is a member of the Dallas County Anesthesiology Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.
