Biography

Dena Daniel, M.A., LPC, is a licensed professional counselor who began working at UT Southwestern in adult psychiatry in 2019. Dena obtained a B.A. in psychology at Texas Tech Honors College, as well as a M.A. in counseling psychology from Texas Woman’s University. Dena’s clinical experience includes working with diverse client populations that present with depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, domestic violence/abuse, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and behavioral problems. Dena has also worked with youth, adolescents, and adults through group practice, outpatient programs, and non-profit organizations. Dena utilizes different therapeutic approaches, which include, but are not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive therapy. Dena tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each patient. Dena believes that unconditional positive regard and a good therapeutic relationship are vital to promoting growth and achieving goals in therapy.
