Biography

Erin Perez, D.P.T., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at UT Southwestern Medical Center’s School of Health Professions. She specializes in neurologic gait dysfunction and rehabilitation after spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Perez earned her doctorate in physical therapy at Washington University in St. Louis. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy as a neurologic clinical specialist, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2016.

Dr. Perez serves as Director of the Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency program and Director of Clinical Education for the UTSW Department of Physical Therapy. She also serves on the UT Southwestern Academic Affairs Committee.

She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy, the Texas Physical Therapy Association, and the Texas Consortium for Physical Therapy Clinical Education.

Dr. Perez has delivered several presentations and published academic articles related to her areas of expertise. In addition, she is a member of the editorial board for Journal of Allied Health.

Personal Note

Dr. Perez describes herself as a lifelong learner, and she says the best part of her job is getting to know her patients and their stories. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids; exercising; traveling; watching, playing, and coaching sports; and attending church.
