Biography

Esra Caylan, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pulmonary diseases, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary manifestations of neuromuscular disease.

Dr. Caylan earned her medical degree at the Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi in Turkey. She completed a residency in pediatrics at New York Medical College, where she also gained advanced training through a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology.

Board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.

Dr. Caylan previously served in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at Baystate Children’s Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she was Director of the Assisted Ventilation Clinic, Associate Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center, and Educational Director.

She has presented widely and published several articles in peer-reviewed journals related to her areas of interest. Her recent publications include a contribution to Case Based Reviews in Pediatric Pulmonology.
