Biography

Glorimar Rivera-Colón, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in cytopathology and gynecologic pathology, with a special interest in cancer of the uterine cervix and the utility of immunostains in body fluid cytology.

Dr. Rivera-Colón earned her medical degree at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. She completed a residency in pathology at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus, and received advanced training through fellowships in cytopathology and gynecologic pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology and cytopathology, Dr. Rivera-Colón joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017.

Among her other roles at UT Southwestern, Dr. Rivera-Colón is Associate Program Director for the Cytopathology Fellowship and Chair of the Belonging, Accessibility, and Engagement Committee in the Department of Pathology.

She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Cytopathology, the International Society of Gynecological Pathologists, and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Her research interests include cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, and endocervical adenocarcinoma. She has published numerous academic articles and case reports related to her areas of expertise.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Rivera-Colón enjoys playing with her kids, traveling, and hiking.
