Biography

Jesse Jaso, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in hematopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology.

Dr. Jaso earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School, serving as Chief Resident his final year, and then gained advanced training in hematopathology through a clinical fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2016.

Among his other roles, he serves as Program Director of UTSW’s Hematopathology Fellowship, as well as Rotation Director of the Medical Student Selective Rotation in Pathology, the Hematopathology Residency Rotation, and the Medical Student Hematopathology Elective.

Dr. Jaso is a Fellow of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the College of American Pathologists. He is also a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the Society for Hematopathology, American Society of Hematology, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

He has delivered invited lectures, co-authored the book Hematopathology and Coagulation: Self-Assessment and Board Review, and published numerous academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Jaso enjoys playing guitar and listening to music; reading biographies, history, politics, and fiction; meditation and spirituality; art and art history; video games; the Dallas Cowboys; and Star Wars.
