Kailee Hughes, M.S.N., APRN, AGACNP-BC

Biography

Kailee Hughes, M.S.N., APRN, AGACNP-BC, is Assistant Director of Advanced Practice for Surgical Services at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP). In her leadership role, she supports advanced practice providers (APPs) across surgical specialties through initiatives focused on professional development, mentorship, onboarding and orientation, operational excellence, and workforce optimization. She is passionate about helping APPs grow throughout their careers and advancing practice models that empower them to practice at the highest level of their education, training, and expertise. Kailee also maintains an active clinical role within the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, reflecting her continued passion for thoracic surgery.

A North Texas native, Kailee earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University and began her nursing career in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Parkland Health. After earning her Master of Science in Nursing, she worked as an intensivist with a pulmonary and critical care practice before joining UT Southwestern in 2017. She lives in Southlake, Texas, with her husband and two children and enjoys reading and fitness.
