Biography

Dr. Karl Rathjen is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and is Director, Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Dr. Rathjen is an honor graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Parkland Hospital / The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Dr. Rathjen is a member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, the Scoliosis Research Society, the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.

In 2018, he was named a Super Doctor by Texas Monthly.
