Biography

Lauren Truby, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in advanced heart failure and heart transplantation.

Dr. Truby earned her medical degree at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeon and completed a residency in internal medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease at Duke University Medical Center and in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at UT Southwestern.

She also earned a master’s degree in biostatistics at Duke University in North Carolina.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Truby has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at conferences across the globe. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Transplantation, and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.

In 2021, Dr. Truby was named a Joseph C. Greenfield Scholar in Cardiology by Duke University. She is a current recipient of an American Heart Association Career Development Award and the Distinguished Researcher Award from the UT Southwestern President’s Research Council. She is also a UT Southwestern Dean’s Scholar in Clinical Research.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Truby enjoys hiking, cycling, gardening, and spending time with her husband, Kyle, and their dog, Maggie.
