Biography

Lisa Scheid, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in neonatal hypoglycemia and clinical informatics.

Dr. Scheid earned her medical degree at the UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School. She completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at UT Southwestern. She also holds a certificate in clinical informatics and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical informatics at the UTHealth Houston McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics.

Board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Scheid’s research interests include predicting and optimizing neonatal hypoglycemia diagnosis and treatment strategies to improve neurodevelopmental outcomes.

She also has a clinical informatics interest in optimizing data accuracy, for both clinical quality improvement and research initiatives.

Dr. Scheid has delivered numerous international and regional invited lectures and published several academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, including its section on neonatal-perinatal medicine, as well as the Southern Society for Pediatric Research and the American Medical Informatics Association.

Personal Note

Dr. Scheid appreciates opportunities to combine two of her passions – teaching and learning new cultures – by traveling internationally to teach neonatology, especially to more resource-limited regions. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and trying ethnic cuisines at local, family-owned establishments.
