Biography

Megan Parmer, M.D., is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in endocrine surgery, including surgery on the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands, and general surgery.

Dr. Parmer earned her medical degree at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso. She completed a residency in general surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident. She received advanced training through an endocrine surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Parmer joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Parmer has delivered numerous presentations and published several academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

In 2022, she received the Arthur H. Aufses Leadership Award from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Parmer enjoys hiking, baking, and spending time with her husband and dog. She speaks Spanish and conversational Portuguese.
