Biography
Melinda Cory, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her clinical interests include pediatric cardiac intensive care, high-output heart failure, and medical education.
Dr. Cory earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern, where she also completed her residency in pediatrics. She gained advanced training through fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric critical care medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.
Board certified in pediatrics, pediatric cardiology, and pediatric critical care, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.
Dr. Cory is Co-Chair of the Heart Center Culture Committee at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center Dallas, where she is also a member of the Vein of Galen Malformation Management Guideline Committee and the Pediatric Critical Care Simulation Team. At UT Southwestern, she serves on the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Clinical Competency Committee and the Pediatric Cardiology Program Evaluation Committee.
A prolific presenter and researcher, Dr. Cory has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and delivered scores of presentations. Her research focuses on the medical management of vein of Galen malformation and the use of simulation to improve education and crisis resource management skills.
She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, the International Pediatric Simulation Society, and the American Heart Association.
She is past recipient of Children’s Medical Center’s PL-2 Award for Clinical Excellence.
