Biography
Melissa Stewart, ACNP-BC, is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner in the Department of Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. With more than 25 years of experience in medicine beginning in 1998, Ms. Stewart has an extensive background in critical care, pulmonary and neurocritical care medicine, advanced cardiac care, and healthcare operations. Ms. Stewart earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Edgewood College in 1998, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2012. She later completed a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from Western Governors University in 2025.
Throughout her career, Ms. Stewart has combined bedside clinical expertise with healthcare operations, with a focus on advanced practice provider development and multidisciplinary care delivery. Her clinical interests include patient blood management, therapeutic apheresis, complex critical illness, and advancing evidence-based care models that improve patient outcomes and provider collaboration. Ms. Stewart is a member of AACN, the Texas Nurse Practitioners organization, the Society for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management, and the American Society for Apheresis.
