Biography

Ravi Kaza, M.D., is a Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Abdominal Imaging Division. His clinical interests include pancreatic cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.

Originally from India, Dr. Kaza received his medical degree at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad and performed radiology residency training at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh. Dr. Kaza then obtained advanced training through a fellowship program in body imaging at the University of Ottawa in Canada.

In addition to being certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR), Dr. Kaza is also certified by the Royal College of Radiologists (London, United Kingdom) and the National Board of Examiners (New Delhi, India).

Prior to joining the faculty in 2021, Dr. Kaza was an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he served as Director of Abdomen Computed Tomography (CT). While there, Dr. Kaza received awards for excellence in teaching and in service to the university.

Dr. Kaza's research interests include dual-energy CT, tumor dosimetry, and CT image reconstruction. Since 2016, he has been a co-investigator on three National Institutes of Health R01 awards. Several of his peer-reviewed publications have been extensively cited, achieving an h-index of 22. Educational exhibits associated with Dr. Kaza's clinical activities and research studies have received numerous certificates of merit, poster awards, and cum laude honors at national meetings of radiologists.

Dr. Kaza is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR), and the Society for Advanced Body Imaging (SABI). He has served on the scientific program committees of the RSNA, SAR and SABI, and on the Gastrointestinal Exam Committee of the ABR.

In recognition for his editorial service, Dr. Kaza has been designated a Distinguished Reviewer by Abdominal Radiology Journal three times. He also serves as a reviewer for other peer-reviewed publications, including Abdominal Imaging, the American Journal of Radiology, European Journal of Radiology, and European Radiology.
