Biography

Rebecca Brooks, M.S.N., APRN, RNC-NIC, PCNS-BC, is a board-certified pediatric clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in the Department of Pediatric Otolaryngology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is an expert at caring for children with tracheostomies and complex airways.

Ms. Brooks earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at West Texas A&M University and her master’s in nursing at TCU. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in nursing education and administration at William Carey University.

Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty as an advanced practice provider in 2021, Ms. Brooks spent 27 years caring for infants and their families in newborn intensive care units (NICUs). She has worked as a pediatric CNS at Children's Medical Center Dallas, where she helped build the Tracheostomy Team and focused on caring for patients with lung and respiratory conditions, specifically those with tracheostomy and home ventilators. She also participated in the Children's Health Airway Management Program and was a member of the Ear, Nose, and Throat (Otolaryngology) team.

Ms. Brooks has three grown children and two dogs.
