Sarah Whinery, M.P.A.S., PA-C

Biography

Sarah Jane Whinery, M.P.A.S., PA-C, is a board-certified physician associate in the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She practices general adult medical dermatology at UT Southwestern and Parkland Health and Hospital System, and she provides inpatient dermatology consults at Clements University Hospital.

Mrs. Whinery earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University. Before completing a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at UT Southwestern, she lived and worked in Montespertoli, Italy. She began her career as a surgical first assist in bariatric and cosmetic surgery with a busy private practice across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex before joining the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern in 2019.

Mrs. Whinery’s clinical and research interests include inflammatory diseases such as hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, eczema, prurigo nodularis, vitiligo, acne, rosacea, and skin cancer. She is committed to fostering an inclusive health care environment for all patients, regardless of income or background.

Mrs. Whinery is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the Texas State Board of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates, the Skin of Color Society, the American Academy of Physician Associates, the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Texas Society of Dermatology Professional Associates. In 2024, she was named an Emerging Scholar of the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates.

Mrs. Whinery also enjoys precepting UT Southwestern PA students, teaching cryotherapy and biopsy techniques at the annual workshop, and volunteering at the Dallas Binational Health Fair, where she has served for the past five years.
