Biography

Susan Ramin, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in medical complications in pregnancy, asthma in pregnancy, and preeclampsia.

Dr. Ramin earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and gained advanced training through a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at UT Southwestern.

She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatrics at UT Southwestern and a postdoctoral fellowship as the J. Bay Jacobs Fellow of the American Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Foundation and the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society.

Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine, she rejoined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024. Previously, she was a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she held numerous leadership roles in education, clinical care research, and global women’s health.

Prior to joining Baylor College of Medicine, she was the Emma Sue Hightower Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Houston Medical School.

Dr. Ramin is the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern. Additionally, she serves on the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors and is the Secretary-Treasurer for the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). She is also a reviewer for the ABMS Portfolio Program and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Gynecological Club.

She has delivered scores of presentations, contributed to more than 20 books, and published extensive academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

In 2023, Dr. Ramin earned the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

When she’s not at work, Dr. Ramin enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
