Biography
Sydna Sebastian, D.N.A.P., CRNA, is a board-certified certified registered nurse anesthetist in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She began her nursing career after earning a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Kerala, India, in 1999. Following her migration to the United States, she worked as a registered nurse in New York and went on to complete her master’s degree in nurse anesthesia at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 2007.
In 2018, she further advanced her education by earning a doctorate in nurse anesthesia practice from Missouri State University. She practiced as a CRNA in New York for five years before relocating to Dallas, where she has been a valued member of the University of Texas Southwestern anesthesiology team since 2015.
She is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and is deeply committed to clinical education and mentorship. She regularly mentors resident registered nurse anesthetists, contributes to preclinical training, and delivers educational presentations for CRNA colleagues, nurses, and anesthesia technicians.
Her scholarly contributions include a published journal course on anesthetic management for patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy in the AANA Journal, and a case report on anesthetic management in a patient with congenital heart disease undergoing electroconvulsive therapy, featured in Sensor, a journal of the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians. She is also actively engaged in departmental research and quality improvement initiatives.
In recognition of her academic and professional excellence, she was awarded the Outstanding APP for Scholarly Endeavors in 2024.
