Biography

Abbye Frederick, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in general infectious diseases, the prevention and treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Dr. Frederick earned her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at the University of South Carolina, where she graduated summa cum laude. She went on to earn her medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where she graduated magna cum laude. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She received advanced training through an infectious disease fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

Dr. Frederick is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American Academy of HIV Medicine, and the American College of Physicians, among other professional organizations.

Dr. Frederick’s clinical and research interests include a focus on HIV treatment and prevention, health disparities, and other infectious diseases. She has delivered presentations and published academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

When she’s not at work, Dr. Frederick enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
