Biography
Abiara Agwu, M.D., M.B.A., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric hospital medicine and clinical medical education.
Dr. Agwu earned her medical degree at the UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School, where she also completed a residency in pediatrics and served as Chief Resident. She gained advanced training in pediatric hospital medicine through a fellowship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Arizona.
Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.
Dr. Agwu is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, including its Section on Hospital Medicine and its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Workgroup. She is also a member of the Academic Pediatric Association, the Texas Pediatric Society, and the Mary Susan Moore Medical Society.
She has delivered numerous presentations and published six academic articles related to her areas of expertise. Her interest in clinical medical education includes a special focus on medical education and senior resident autonomy.
