Biography

Adan (Adam) Mora Jr., M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in the management of critically ill pregnant patients and critically ill transgender patients, resuscitation execution, and end-of-life care in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Dr. Mora earned his medical degree at the UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics and a fellowship in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in critical care medicine, internal medicine, and pulmonary diseases, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Previously, he was the Chief of Critical Care Services for the Mount Carmel Health Care System, Medical Director of the Advance Practice Provider Program at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC), and Medical Director and Chief of Staff at Select Specialty Hospital in Dallas and Garland.

He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the Texas Medical Association.

A prolific author and researcher, Dr. Mora’s research interests include acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation, acute kidney injury in the ICU, critically ill transgender patients, pregnancy and critical care, sepsis, and code blue simulation training. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Mora is also focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and on addressing health care disparities in medicine. In 2023, he was recognized for excellence in medicine by Best in Texas magazine.

Personal Note

When he is not at work, Dr. Mora enjoys traveling, watching films and plays, listening to chamber symphony music, and hiking.
