Biography

Affan Zafar, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in genitourinary cancers including prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancer.

Dr. Zafar earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a residency in urologic surgery at Washington University’s Barnes-Jewish Hospital and received advanced fellowship training in urologic oncology at Harvard Medical School. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Zafar is a member of the American Urological Association and the Society of Urologic Oncology.

He has delivered presentations at national meetings and published peer-reviewed academic articles on bladder cancer and bladder preservation treatments.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Zafar enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, hiking, and reading.
